Education is paramount to the mission of this club.
The Sun City Anthem Computer Club offers different venues for the advancement
of knowledge among its members.
Classroom offerings
The Club offers many classes each month in our state of the art classroom.
The volunteer instructors are knowledgeable individuals with special expertise
in their subject matter. Classroom Aides assist the students with vexing
problems to keep the instruction process from bogging down. See Class
Descriptions for a brief overview of each class offered.
Classroom Aides
needed.
With the large number of students attending classes, your club’s
instructors need more classroom aides to assist during class. As an Aide
you contribute to the educational experience by assisting individuals
perform the tasks requested by the instructor. As an Aide you are both
helping others to be successful while increasing your knowledge and
expertise. If you are beyond the rookie level and are interested in
becoming an Aide, contact Dave Riccio, the club’s Aide Coordinator.
In-home tutoring
There is not sufficient demand for classes on some application programs. In
these situations, in order to provide our members with special needs, greater
in-depth understanding of a particular program, our volunteer tutors will
provide a two-hour in-home session in their chosen subjects. See Tutoring
for the current list of subjects and how to contact the volunteers for an
appointment.
A $20.00 donation to the club is appropriate following the session.
Special Interest Groups
Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) are groups of people with an interest in a
particular program or area of computing. The meeting is run by a leader that
will moderate the discussion, exchange of experiences, and sharing of tips.
SIG’s are not classes. See Special
Interest Groups for groups now meeting.
Computer Talk
The weekly Computer Talk provides an informal way to ask questions, share
ideas, and meet with others interested in computers. Unlike a SIG, there is no
one general theme to the discussion. Bring a question about a problem you are
experiencing, and you may get more than one possible solution, since there is
often more than one way to accomplish a particular task.
