Your Computer Club's facilities

The two rooms that house the physical facilities of your club are a tremendous asset. The computers and related equipment add to the ability of the club's volunteers filling 161 positions to provide a forum for the exchange of information and knowledge among its members with respect to personal computers and their uses. 

Computer classroom

The club's classroom is where the beginning student gains a foundation for furthering the student's grasp of computers and their possibilities. 

Some of the highlights:

bulletNineteen computers are available for student use during classes.
bulletFive of these are Apple computers for the many Mac aficionados in the club.
bulletProjector for demonstrating the instructors actions for students assistance.
bulletDuring non-instructional periods, these computers are available for members use.
bulletAll computers are connected to the Internet.
bulletAll computers have access to a variety of color and black & white printers.

Computer lab

The computer lab is used for the membership during classroom instruction. Ten computers are available with broadband Internet access.

Photo Imaging Center

A Photo Imaging Center (PIC) is in the Computer lab. At the heart of the Center is an eMachine. Two scanners, that approach the image quality and features of professional scanners, are available for use by appointment only!  

Club members will work in the Photo Imaging Center (PIC) only under the supervision of specially trained volunteer monitors. The current list is:

Club members will be able to scan:

bulletTransparencies and negatives
bullet35mm
bullet2¼" by 2¼"
bullet6cm by 7cm
bullet4" by 5"
bullet4" by 9"

bulletFilm strips
bulletNew and old photo prints 

Club member can write (burn) their scanned images to a CD. Printing and further processing of the images are to be done on the member's home computer. The member must have photo image editing programs installed. If you would like to read all about Digital Photography, click here!

Peripherals

bulletColor Inkjet, Color Laser and black & white Laser printers for a total of three printers.
bulletFax machine for incoming fax message for members, and outgoing messages within the local dialing area (all of Clark County, NV, except the Laughlin area). You may also send to 800 type numbers by dialing 9, then 1-800... or 1-877... etc.
bulletCopier. For incidental member use only.
bulletMany computers throughout the lab and classroom have:
bulletFloppy drives
bulletZIP drives
bulletCD/RW drives
bulletDVD/R drives
